Haverschmidt F. (1948) Vleermuizen als prooi van den Boomvalk (Falco subbuteo L.). ARDEA 36 (1-2): 39-42
Though it is a well-known fact that the Hobby (Falco subbuteo L.) sometimes catches bats, it seems that the species never have been established. On August 21, 19444 fresh wings of Nyctalus noctula (Schreb.) and a partly devoured Eptesicus serotinus (Schreb.) were found under the nest and the rest tree of a family of Hobbies. Short attention is paid to the preying on bats by other birds of prey e.g. the Peregrine (Falco peregrinus Tunst) and the Sparrow-Hawk (Accipiter nisus (L.)).
