MOERBEEK DJ, WINKELMAN JE & HEER P DE (1987) Rare and scarce birds in the Netherlands in 1985. LIMOSA 60 (1): 21-30.

This annual report of the Dutch rarities committee lists records of rare and scarce birds in the Netherlands in 1985 together with some older ones. Species marked with an asterisk in the list of accepted records have not been considered by the committee. The three numbers in brackets after the species' name refer to the total numbers in 1900-68, 1969-84, and 1985, respectively. Interesting records include: Phaeton aethereus (1st), Aquila clanga (4th), Charadrius leschenaultii (3rd), Larus philadelphia (1st), Tarsiger cyanurus (2nd), and Vireo olivaceus (1st, 2nd). An influx was noted of Branta bernicla hrota (100+), Otis tarda (25), Phylloscopus inornatus (97 records of which 42 trapped) and Nucifraga caryocatactes.
