OUWENEEL GL (1987) Short contributions: Great Skua Stercorarius skua feeding on victims from power transmission lines. LIMOSA 60 (1): 42-42.

From 20-27 September 1986, a Great Skua Stercorarius skua was seen feeding on the Hellegatsplaten, SW. Netherlands, approximately 40 km inland. The area comprised vast tidal mudflats with shorebirds, gulls, and ducks. The skua fed on birds injured from collision with high power transmission lines running across the flats. While searching for food the bird followed the power lines zigzagging, thus covering also areas adjacent to the lines.
