CAMPHUYSEN CJ (1989) Record of Guillemot Uria aalge hyperborea in the Netherlands. LIMOSA 62 (1): 47-48.

Atlantic Murre Uria aalge On 26 November 1988, a remarkably large, bridled morph, winter plumage Guillemot was caught at the Brouwersdam (Delta area), showing characteristics of Uria aalge hyperborea. Winglength (221 mm), pigmentation of the back (blackish brown), sides (heavily streaked) and underwing (heavily spotted black) are typical for this subspecies. It was an adult female in poor physical condition (severely emaciated). True hyperborea was so far not recorded in the Netherlands, and the record is of particular interest because of a major crash which has recently been witnessed in arctic waters due to acute food shortages.
