White Stork Ciconia ciconia The distribution of the White Stork in the Netherlands in the 18th century was reconstructed using old prints and literature sources. Significant differences were found between the situation in the 18th century and that in 1939. It is concluded that the White Stork disappeared much earlier from the western part of the country (as early as the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century), than from the rest of the country
