Jan Schoppers (2025) Magpies Pica pica nesting on buildings, an update. LIMOSA 98 (3): 143-146.

In Schoppers (2020) 15 cases of Magpies building nests in buildings are described. In the current note an additional nine nests and locations are described. Again education, office and apartment buildings were used by Magpies to build nests, also built in the trusses of a railway station hall and on an old windmill in a rural area. Eleven other nests were built on other man-made structures (Tab. 1). In 2009-24 most nesting attempts on buildings were in the central and western parts of the Netherlands (Fig. 1), with apparent spatial clustering.
