SWELM ND VAN (1970) Magnificent Frigatebird Fregata magnificens observed in the Netherlands. LIMOSA 43 (1): 59-59.

On August 26th, 1968 an adult male of Magnificent Frigatebird Fregata magnificens was seen flying over a dune-area south of The Hague in the province of ZuidHolland. Two observers were watching this entirely black bird with its enormous wingspan at a distance of about 100 yards. They clearly noticed the orange-red pouch at the chin, the large horny bill and the long angled wings. Unfortunately they were not able to see the forked tail, because the bird flew away from them. Till now there are no records for the Netherlands and three for Europe. Magnificent Frigatebird Fregata magnificens CDNA incomplete observation CDNA = Committee Rarities Dutch Avifauna
