DOEVENDANS JAJP, JONKERS DA, LEEUWEN JFN VAN, MUSKENS GJDM, THISSEN JBM & VISSER D (1982) Raptor census in the Netherlands in January 1982. LIMOSA 55 (4): 121-124.

In January 1982 approximately half of the Netherlands was censused for raptors. Winter 1981/82 was cold and snowy. Numbers of most wintering raptors in the Netherlands were high probably because the weather in Northern and Eastern Europe was colder than usual. The Kestrel was an exception. Like in the very cold winter 1978179 the numbers of this raptor were low. This is probably due to difficulties in catching voles 1l1.icrotus during snow cover. ##### Red Kite Milvus milvus White-tailed Eagle Haliaeetus albicilla Western Marsh Harrier Circus aeruginosus Hen Harrier Circus cyaneus Northern Goshawk Accipiter gentilis Eurasian Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus Common Buzzard Buteo buteo Rough-legged Buzzard Buteo lagopus Osprey Pandion haliaetus Common Kestrel Falco tinnunculus Merlin Falco columbarius Peregrine Falcon Falco peregrinus
