LOON AJ VAN (1982) Short announcements: Migration of the Greenish Warbler Phylloscopus trochiloides in Western Europe. LIMOSA 55 (4): 139-139.

Greenish Warbler Phylloscopus trochiloides A Greenish Warbler Phylloseopus troehiloides viridanus was trapped on Schiermonnikoog (Friesland). This record coincided with a period of strong migration of Willow Warblers Phylloscopus troehilus and Pied Flycatchers Fieedula hypoleuea, probably from Scandinavia. The recent expansion of the breeding area of the Greenish Warbler is discussed. It is argued that the increase in records in western Europe should be explained in terms of developing new migration routes and wintering areas, rather than in terms of reversed migration, as suggested by Rabol (1969).
