WINKELMNA JE & OSIECK ER (1989) Bird ringing in the Netherlands during 1981 - 1986. LIMOSA 62 (3): 131-146.

General trends of bird ringing in the Netherlands during 1981-86, in comparison with the period 1970-80, are discussed. During 1981-86 the yearly number of birds ringed was stable (c. 185 000/ year), but the number of recoveries still increased. In 1981-85, 18% more recoveries were handled compared to 1976-80 (tab. I), mostly due to a fast growing number of sightings of rings and colour marks. Ringing totals for selected species in the years 1981-86 are provided in appendix I.##### Eurasian Oystercatcher Haematopus ostralegus Black-headed Gull Chroicocephalus ridibundus = Larus ridibundus European Herring Gull Larus argentatus Common Kestrel Falco tinnunculus Mute Swan Cygnus olor Great Tit Parus major Grey Heron Ardea cinerea Common Eider Somateria mollissima Common Tern Sterna hirundo Common Starling Sturnus vulgaris Common Gull Larus canus canus Common Teal Anas crecca European Pied Flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca Northern Lapwing Vanellus vanellus Carrion Crow Corvus corone European Reed Warbler Acrocephalus scirpaceus Common Blackbird Turdus merula Barn Owl Tyto alba Eurasian Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus Eurasian Spoonbill Platalea leucorodia Bewick's Swan Cygnus bewickii Taiga Bean Goose Anser fabalis Great Cormorant Phalacrocorax carbo Greylag Goose Anser anser Mallard Anas platyrhynchos Dunlin Calidris alpina = Calidris alpina schinzii Tufted Duck Aythya fuligula
