Van Diek H & Oosterhof W (2024) Common Swifts Apus apus nesting in trees in Hilversum in 2019-22. LIMOSA 97 (1): 34-36.

In 2019-22, Common Swifts showed interest in an old burrow of a Great Spotted Woodpecker Dendrocopos major at a height of about 8 meters in an old Pine Tree Pinus sylvestris in the town of Hilversum. Only in 2020 there was a certain breeding attempt. In 2021 there was a possible but unsuccessful breeding attempt and in 2019 and 2022 there were only nest inspections. As far as is known, this is the first time that tree-breeding by Common Swift has been recorded in the Netherlands.
