WALTERS J (1982) Short announcements: Late breeding of Oystercatcher Haematopus ostralegus. LIMOSA 55 (3): 100-100.

Eurasian Oystercatcher Haematopus ostralegus On 11 September 1981 a pair of Oystercatchers on Vlieland (Friesland) still had an unfledged but healthy young. Since {ledging could be expected within a few days, the clutch should have been laid between 11 and 18 July. According to Glutz von Blotzheim et al. (1975) this is late. It is interesting to note that such a late young reaches the fledging stage. In spite of the age of the young one of the parents still performed distraction display.
